“I recently bought a vintage steel Davidson bike on eBay for my vacation home in the desert. I have a similar bike at home in Seattle and felt I would stick with what I liked. The bike arrived in Palm Desert and I was disappointed. It hadn’t been well cared for and needed a lot of rehabilitation. All the bike shops were booked up for weeks but someone gave me Joel’s name and he could get me in and out in days. He was enthusiastic and clearly cared about doing his job well. He was upset by the bike’s condition and wanted to make it right. He got rid of all the rust, trued the wheels ,adjusted the brakes and derailleur an put in a stem extender that I had given him to install since I have a stiff post op back. I was pleased with the results but after two weeks I realized the cassette was geared to hard for me. He had already replaced the brake cables and bar tape and now he installed a cassette geared to my specifications along with a proper derailleur and chain to fit. The smoothness and quiet of my shifting is impressive. He was able to keep the quality of parts up and the price down. He even got me a seat virtually unused for 1/3 retail price.
Joel radiates enthusiasm and shared his knowledge of local rides and riding groups with me along with invitations to join him and his groups. I would have except they start before I wake up and at 7 am it’s really chilly and I’m here for warmth. I highly recommend Joel and The Bike Shop for all bike repairs. He did my extender without batting an eye. Two people I had asked to do the install were afraid to even try it. Joel is fast and reliable, and knows bikes really well. Thanks!”

Joe is the ideal bicycle mechanic, consultant and best source of bicycle performance info of all types with superior product knowledge. I brought my bike to him after going to 2 other mechanics over the years. My bike was making chain noise and I constantly had trouble getting my bike to shift completely smoothly. Joe sent me photos over a couple of days showing bad disc pads, bent derailleur, and a few other issues that will occur down the road but no need to address now. This is all after my bike had that had been worked on by others from a drop 2 years ago. I expected an estimate that would include new parts and a big ticket. Negative. He texted me my bike was ready and bill was emailed. At first I was concerned we didn’t discuss the issues and what he was going to do. When I saw the bill and all he did itemized, I couldn’t believe how reasonable. When I got there to pickup my bike, I spent quite awhile there. Joe was able to recondition and fix everything. He is a fascinating guy and his vision for his business is exciting as he is looking to make his shop an experience. I’ll let you find out how but I plan to spend time there with or without my bike. I am thankful to find out about him. By the way, my bike is silent running and I improved my average speed by a full mph.

Joel is a purveyor of bike repair.
His attention to detail and knowledge of high end bicycles is unsurpassed. In my 30 years of being addicted to bikes, Joel is the best mechanic that I have ever come across. For me, It’s the little OCD things that count: bars are measured and taped. Bolts are tightened to spec and gears are tuned to perfection. Most recently, my bike began making a horrible sound. I couldn’t tell If it was the BB, rear cassette or spokes. Joel was quick to identify the issue and get me back in the road. Thanks Joel.
